You can place the following items in your recycling toter bin. If you're recycling a food container, please make sure it is clean, and leave the label on.

  • Pizza boxes (must be uncontaminated — boxes with food or grease cannot be recycled and must be thrown in the trash)

* While you may discard paperback and hardcover books in the toter bin, we suggest recycling your books, music and movies through The Friends of Ferguson Library, a volunteer, non-profit organization that receives, processes, and places about 100,000 items a year to keep books circulating in ooiur community.

The Friends of Ferguson Library accepts donations at the Ferguson Library's main and Harry Bennett branches.

You may also recycle books at the City's recycling centers.

** Filled or partially filled aerosol cans must be recycled on hazardous waste recycling days.

Remember — When in doubt, recycle!


OTHER HOUSEHOLD MATERIALS

You may recycle or dispose of other materials according to the table below. Garbage crews WILL NOT collect these materials:

1 Harborview Avenue during business hours. You will be charged a nominal $12 Freon removal fee.

Fluorescent light bulbs

Oil (including cooking oil and new or used motor oil)

Katrina Mygatt Recycling Center.

Mercury thermometers

Katrina Mygatt or Scofieldtown Road Recycling Centers, or drop off at Hazardous Waste Recycling Day.

Oil paint and primers

Drop off at Hazardous Waste Recycling Day.

Latex paint

Dry completely (by adding sand or kitty litter if needed) and drop in garbage.

Construction waste

Scale House at 1 Harborview Avenue.

Batteries (including rechargeable and car batteries)

Katrina Mygatt or Scofieldtown Road Recycling Centers, or drop off at Hazardous Waste Recycling Day.

Yard waste (grass clippings, hedge trimmings, etc.)

Compost on your property or recycle at Katrina Mygatt or Scofieldtown Road Recycling Centers (Consumers only - No contractors).

Tree stumps

Scale House at 1 Harborview Avenue (Consumers only - No contractors).

Furniture, mattresses and appliances

Scale House at 1 Harborview Avenue.

Asbestos shingles

Wrap in plastic and drop off at Hazardous Waste Recycling Day.

Chemicals

Drop off at Hazardous Waste Recycling Day.

Hazardous waste

Drop off at Hazardous Waste Recycling Day.

Clothes, shoes and furniture (new or gently used)

Donate to a charitable organization. Goodwill boxes have been placed at both Recycling Centers to facilitate donation.

Items weighing 50 lbs. or more

Scale House at 101 Harborview Avenue.
